The largest airport in Missouri, Lambert-St Louis International Airport serves the air transport needs of the biggest city in the state, St Louis. The Airport Information Booth (tel: +1 314 890 1333) is located on the lower level of Terminal 1, in the baggage claim areas. Additionally, The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission operates booths in both of the airport’s terminals (tel: +1 800 916 8938 [Monday-Friday]; or: +1 314 423 5855 [weekends]), offering advice and information about the local area.
Lambert-St Louis International Airport is located just north of Interstate 70, and south of Interstate 270.
From central St Louis, head north onto Interstate 70 and follow this road northbound until exit 238A, which leads onto Air Cargo Road. From here, follow signs to the terminal. The total drive time from central St Louis to the airport is approximately 20 minutes.
Public Transport
Rail:St Louis' Metrolink (tel: +1 314 231 2345; www.metrostlouis.org) light rail network stops at both terminals, linking Lambert-St Louis International Airport with the city centre on the Red Line. A pass valid for two hours from the airport on the Metro system (bus and light rail) costs US$4. The journey time by light rail into central St Louis is around 30 minutes.
Bus:Local services are operated by Metrobus (tel: +1 314 231 2345; www.metrostlouis.org). Greyhound (tel: +1 800 231 2222; www.greyhound.com) runs long-distance and inter-city services to and from Lambert-St Louis International Airport. The bus station is a short distance south from Terminal 1, and is served by the airport's courtesy shuttles.
Shuttle:Shared-ride shuttles provide services to downtown St Louis hotels: call for advance booking (tel: +1 877 785 4682; www.gobestexpress.com). The fare from the airport to central St Louis is approximately US$25 (depending on exact drop-off destination) and the journey time is around 40 minutes.
Taxi:Metro West Transport (tel: +1 636 272 8294; www.metrowesttaxi.net) provides taxis at the airport, readily available outside the arrivals areas of both terminals. Fares to central St Louis cost between US$35-45 and the journey time is around 35 minutes.
Terminal facilities
Paid-for Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Lambert-St Louis International Airport. A post drop is situated on the lower level of Terminal 1. Data ports and public telephones are also available in the terminal buildings.
There are numerous restaurants, snack bars, fast-food outlets, bars and cafés located in the terminal buildings, the majority of which are found beyond the security areas.
There are various shops at Lambert-St Louis International Airport, ranging from newsstands to gift shops and wine merchants. There is currently no duty-free outlet.
Lockers and left-luggage services are not available. Lambert-St Louis International Airport’s police department (tel: +1 314 890 1370) handles lost and found items in the terminals and car parks.
Airport facilities
Some airlines offer executive lounges in Lambert-St Louis International Airport. Meeting space and conference rooms are available for events (tel: +1 314 426 8007) but there are no conference rooms.
Alternatively, the nearby Holiday Inn St. Louis Airport (tel: +1 314 427 4700; www.holidayinn.com) offers extensive meeting and conference facilities, along with a fully-equipped business centre.
Lambert-St Louis International Airport has lifts and disabled toilets. Wheelchairs are available from airlines or can be requested from security personnel. All car parks are accessible to disabled travellers and every parking shuttle bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel.
The Airport's primary parking service is operated by Super Park, which manages two terminal multistorey car parks and four additional car parks that are serviced 24 hours a day by free shuttle buses. The two terminal garages offer hourly parking rates; while an intermediate car park (connected by a tunnel to the main terminal) offers daily parking rates.
Long-term parking is available at car park D and at a parking area on Cypress Road. Additional information is available from Super Park (tel: (314) 890 2800; www.superparkinglot.com). A free ‘cell phone lot’ is available for drivers picking up arriving passengers.
Car hire companies at Lambert-St Louis International Airport include: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty, which all have desks on the lower level of the main terminal.
The Hilton St Louis Airport features a 24-hour business centre, event facilities and 25 meeting rooms. It also houses a restaurant, indoor pool and fitness centre. The hotel is located near the airport and a complimentary shuttle service operates around the clock.
The Crowne Plaza St Louis Airport is around 1.6km (1 mile) from Lambert-St Louis International Airport, and houses extensive meeting facilities. The hotel also boasts a spa and gym, indoor pool, bar and a choice of restaurants. A shuttle service to and from the airport is available.
Immediately adjacent to the airport complex, the Marriott has nearly 600 rooms and counts 27 meeting rooms, two restaurants and a swimming pool among its facilities. The hotel provides a regular complimentary shuttle service to the terminals.
In addition to its business and meetings facilities, the 158-room Holiday Inn St Louis Airport offers a fitness centre, outdoor pool, restaurant and bar. It also provides a complimentary shuttle to and from Lambert-St Louis International Airport, which is approximately 1km (0.6 miles) away.
