Passports

A passport valid for at least six months on day of arrival is required by all nationals referred to in the chart.

Visas

 

 

Nationals from Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macao, Peru, Serbia, South Korea (visa waiver valid until 31 December 2024), Ukraine (with invitation) and the United States of America can visit Mongolia without a visa for up to 90 days.
 
Nationals from Canada, Cuba, Germany, Israel, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Uruguay and Uzbekistan can visit Mongolia without a visa for up to 30 days.
 
Nationals from all EU-countries (except Germany), Australia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and UK can visit Mongolia as tourists without a visa for up to 30 days (visa waiver is valid until 31 December 2025).

Nationals from the Philippines can visit Mongolia without a visa for up to 21 days, while Hong Kong passport holders can visit Mongolia without a visa for up to 14 days.

Visa on arrival: Visa on arrival is only applicable to visitors from a country with no Mongolian consulate. For visitors with a Mongolian consulate in their country it is compulsory to apply for a visa in advance. In the case of visa on arrival, you (or your local sponsor) must have already submitted a request to the Mongolian Immigration Authority and they have confirmed that you can obtain a visa on arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport before you leave. You must have with you the complete visa application, a passport that is valid for at least six months upon arrival, hotel confirmation, a passport photo, and a return/onward ticket. The fee is US$30 or 108,000 Mongolian tögrög.

Obtaining visas for China and Russia in Mongolia: you are advised to arrange for China and/or Russia visas before your travel to Mongolia as obtaining visas for China and Russia can be difficult once you are there.

Types and cost
Single-entry valid for up to 90 days (30 days): GBP£50 (5 working days).
 
Double-entry valid for up to 90 days (30 days):  GBP£65 (5 working days).
 
Multiple-entry valid for up to 6 months: GBP£105 (5 working days).
 
Multiple-entry valid for 6 to 12 months: GBP£205 (5 working days). 
 
Transit

Nationals transiting via train can apply for a single- or double-entry transit visa.

Working days

Visa processing takes two to five days.

Compulsory registration

Do you need to register with the authority after you have arrived? The general guideline is all visitors who intend to stay for more than 30 days must register with the Mongolian Immigration Agency in Ulaanbaatar within 48 hours of your arrival.

Extension of stay

Temporary visitors who arrived in Mongolia without a visa in accordance with an international agreement on mutual travel conditions may extend their stay in Mongolia once for up to 30 days at the Immigration Office of Mongolia.

Entry with children

Adults accompanying children other than their own should bring a notarised letter from the child's parent/legal guardian authorising them to travel.

Exit permission

Visitors who have been in Mongolia for more than 90 days must obtain an exit visa from the Office of Immigration which usually takes 10 days to process.
