Reno-Tahoe International Airport Guide (RNO)
One of the busiest airports in Nevada, Reno-Tahoe International Airport currently only operates domestic routes to destinations throughout the USA. The airport is just off Highway 395, and is a short distance south of Interstate 80. The airport exit is clearly marked as ‘Reno/Tahoe International Airport’ from these thoroughfares.
From central Reno, take the southbound Virginia Street to Plumb Lane, and drive east to the airport site.
Public Transport
Bus:Bus 19, operated by RTC public bus (tel: +1 775 348 7433; www.rtcwashoe.com), connects the airport to central Reno. The journey time is less than 30 minutes to central Reno, and the single fare is US$2.
Shuttle:Scheduled shuttle services are run by a number of providers, including the North Lake Tahoe Express (tel: +1 866 216 5222; www.northlaketahoeexpress.com), the South Tahoe Airporter (tel: +1 866 898 2463; www.southtahoeairporter.com) and the Airport Mini Bus (tel: +1 775 786 3700; www.bell-limo.com).
Taxi:Taxis are available from a number of operators, several of which offer flat-rate services to and from central Reno – a full list of these is available on the airport’s website. Services depart from outside baggage reclaim. Journey time into the city is about 10 minutes, and fares start at around US$25.
Terminal facilities
ATMs are located in concourses B and C, as well as in the public lobby and baggage claim hall. Currency exchange is not available.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is provided throughout Reno-Tahoe International Airport. There is a mailbox outside the terminal and stamps are available from the newsagents in the main lobby area. Telephones are located on every concourse.
There are various places to eat at Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Among the options are restaurants, cafés and pubs in concourses B and C, a fast-food outlet in the post-security High Mountain Marketplace, and an alpine-themed eatery in the public area.
Shops at Reno-Tahoe International Airport include newsagents, gift stores, clothing retailers and a golf accessories shop. Duty-free shopping is not available.
Baggage trolleys can be hired for a US$5 fee. There are no left-luggage facilities at Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Those who have lost luggage or other personal items in the terminal should contact the lost and found service (tel: +1 775 328 6868).
Airport facilities
Conference facilities are available at nearby hotels, including the Best Western Plus Airport Plaza (tel: +1 775 348 6370; www.bestwesternnevada.com), which is located opposite Reno-Tahoe International Airport. This hotel houses a business centre, five boardroom-style meeting rooms and conference facilities accommodating up to 320 delegates.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is well equipped for disabled passengers. Assistance is available on request, although passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. In and around the terminal, there are lifts, ramps and accessible toilets and telephones. Designated spaces can be found in the airport car parks.

Long- and short-term parking is available opposite the terminal in a multistorey car park that is connected to the terminal by lifts and a walkway. There is space for around 1,250 cars over the first two floors, and 850 cars on the uncovered top floor. In addition, a long-term car park can be found just south of the main parking area, with space for 1,565 vehicles. A 'cell phone lot' is available for drivers meeting arriving passengers. Car hire companies at Reno-Tahoe International Airport include: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty. Desks for these operators are located on the lower level of the terminal building, near baggage claim.
A relatively new property about 1.6km (1 mile) from Reno-Tahoe International Airport, this hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the terminal. Amenities include a business centre, fitness area with an indoor pool, and free internet access.
A 24-hour airport shuttle service is offered by this budget hotel, which is only a short distance from the terminal building. Guests can enjoy on-site American-style dining, a fitness area with a sauna, and an outdoor pool. Wi-Fi access is offered as part of the room rate, and there are a range of business and meeting facilities for use by guests.
Located near Reno-Tahoe International Airport, the Comfort Inn and Suites grants guests complimentary breakfast and free internet access. Limited business services are available from reception.
Providing good value accommodation close to the terminal building, the La Quinta Inn boasts a swimming pool and free parking. As with other hotels in the area, this offering is linked to the airport by a shuttle service.
