Driving directions

Interstate 195 serves the terminal directly, via a designated airport exit. From Washington, D.C., take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway heading north until signs for Interstate 195/BW appear. Bear right, and follow Interstate 195 to the airport.
From Baltimore, take Russell Street south to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, then follow the road south to the junction with Interstate 195. From here, merge left off the parkway onto Interstate 195 for the airport.

Public transport rail

Rail: The airport has its own station, located immediately outside the lower level of the terminal building adjacent to Concourse E.

A light rail service is provided by the Maryland Transit Administration (tel: +1 410 539 5000; www.mta.maryland.gov), running trains to and from central Baltimore (journey time: 50 minutes; fare: US$1.60) and Hunt Valley. Amtrak trains (tel: +1 800 872 7245; www.amtrak.com) run to destinations on the east coast from the nearby BWI Marshall Rail Station (tel: +1 410 672 6169); free shuttles connect the station and terminal. MARC trains (tel: +1 410 539 5000;www.mta.maryland.gov), departing from the same station, serve Baltimore, Washington DC, Prince Georges County, Anne Arundel County and Harford County.

 

Public transport road

Bus: There are bus services to numerous destinations from the airport. MTA bus 17 (tel: +1 410 539 5000; www.mta.maryland.gov) links the airport with Patapsco light rail station to the south of central Baltimore (journey time: 40 minutes; fare: US$1.70). The BWI Express B30 (tel: +1 202 637 7000; www.wmata.com) operates from the airport to Washington DC's Greenbelt metro station (journey time: 30 minutes; fare: US$1.75). Bus 201 links the airport to the park and ride car park.
Shuttle: SuperShuttle (tel: +1 800 258 3826; www.supershuttle.com) offers scheduled shared ride van services to/from Baltimore (journey time: 30 minutes; fare: around US$22), Baltimore County, and surrounding areas in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. BayRunner Shuttle (tel: +1 410 912 6000; www.bayrunnershuttle.com) connects the airport to Maryland’s Eastern and Western Shores.
Taxi: Taxis (tel: +1 410 859 1100;www.bwiairporttaxi.com) are readily available outside the baggage claim area, on the terminal's lower level.

Money

ATMs are located on both levels of the terminal. Currency exchange services are available before security.

Communication

Both a free and paid-for Wi-Fi internet service is available throughout the airport. Post boxes are also available throughout the airport.

Food

The airport has a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars, both before and after the security screening area. Dining options in the public area include a sports bar, pub, fast-food outlets and snack bars. Among the post-security options includes a wine bar and a seafood restaurant.

Shopping

There is an extensive variety of shops both before and after security at the airport. A duty-free shop can be found on the International Concourse.

Luggage

Left-luggage facilities have been suspended due to security concerns. There is a lost property office (tel: +1 410 859 7387) on the upper level of the terminal at the entrance to Concourse C.

Other

A meditation area and a children’s play area are also located on the upper level, and there is a public observation gallery between Concourses B and C.

Airport facilities

Conference and business

The Club BWI on concourse D offers workspace, complimentary food and wireless internet access for a daily fee of US$40. There are no conference rooms at the airport, but the nearby Sheraton Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel (tel: +1 443 577 2100; www.sheratonbwiairport.com) houses a conference centre and meeting space.

Disabled facilities

TDD telephones are available throughout the airport. There are disabled toilets, as well as lifts and ramps, and reserved disabled parking. Some car hire companies provide hand-controlled vehicles. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline of this when booking their ticket. All shuttle buses operating in and around the airport are wheelchair accessible.

Car parking

There is space for over 25,000 cars at the airport. Options include a short-term car park in front of the terminal and a daily-rate area a short distance from the terminal, as well as several satellite car parks offering daily, long-term and express parking. Car rental

On-site international car hire companies include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty, along with several other companies. These operators are based at the car hire centre on the corner of Stoney Run Road and New Ridge Road, 10 minutes from the terminal. The centre is connected to the airport by a free shuttle bus service.

Hotels

There are several hotels near the airport, including one on site. Most offer shuttle links to and from the terminal. Hotel boards and phones are located in the baggage reclaim area.
