Things to do in Tripoli

Reflect upon Beach Road's street murals

In a city still unstable following well-documented troubles, the colourful and political street murals that adorn the walls along Beach Road are a poignant presence. Local artists make this an ever-changing exhibition, one which weaves from cynical to satirical to sobering, and plenty of which include the deposed leader Gaddafi.

Spend a day on the beach

In Tripoli, the Mediterranean Sea laps the city’s edge and children dive into the warm waters from wave breaks. Meanwhile, those less daring lounge under umbrellas and frolic in the shallows. For more paradisaical spots, drive the coast road west towards Zuwara and find a quiet stretch. Zuwara’s own beach is stunning.
