Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport Guide (IKA)
Opened in 2004, Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport is the largest airport in Iran and is located near the capital city, Tehran. Our guide to the airport includes information on public transport routes, terminal facilities and airport contact details.
There are information desks within the terminal building. English-speaking staff are available.
From central Tehran, follow the Tehran-Qom Freeway (Route 7), which is directly linked to the airport by a separate access road.
Public Transport
Metro: Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport is connected to Tehran via the metro line 8 (the red line). For more information, passengers can contact +98 21 6453 1312.
Shuttle: Shuttle buses link Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport to the domestic airport: Mehrabad International Airport, which is within the city boundary.
Taxi: Fixed rate taxis are available outside the terminal – the journey time to central Tehran is around 60 minutes, depending on traffic, and the fare depends on the taxi model. Taxis can be booked in advance from Airport Seiro Safar (www.airportseirosafar.com).
Terminal facilities
Banks are available both airside and landside. There is also a bureau de change. Credit cards are not widely accepted in Iran.
Free Wi-Fi access is available in parts of the terminal building, including the departure lounge.
Duty-free shopping is available (no alcohol), along with outlets selling speciality Iranian foods, giftware and spices.
There is no left luggage facility within the airport. For enquiries about lost or found items, please visit one of the information desks within the terminal or contact the airport police (tel: +98 21 5100 7328).
Airport facilities
There are no meeting or conference facilities at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport, but there is a CIP lounge for premium passengers, which offers snacks and drinks. Meeting facilities are available at the larger city hotels.
Short-term parking is available adjacent to the terminal building, while the long-term car parks (2 and 3) are connected to the terminal by a free shuttle bus service.

Comprised of 196 rooms, this 4-star hotel provides inter-airport transfer services (to and from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport to Mehr Abad Airport), on-site dining, a gym and juice bar.
