Transfer between terminals

The airport terminals are spread over two different locations, 4km (2.5 miles) apart. Airport taxi services can be used to transfer passengers between the terminals.

Driving directions

The airport is well signposted from Mumbai. Take Dr Anandrao Nair Marg, Dr E Moses Road and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road to Bandra – Worli Sea Link to the Western Express Highway which passes the airport site (Terminal 1) at Santa Cruz. Terminal 2 can be reached by heading further north on the highway before turning eastwards onto Sahar Airport Road.

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Rail: A railway reservation counter is situated in Terminal 2. Trains run regularly to the city centre from the domestic terminals nearest station, Vile Parle, and Andheri, the station closest to the International Terminal. Buses 321 and 308 connect the airport with both stations respectively. For further information check the Indian Railways website (www.indianrailways.gov.in). Note that foreign tourists are often permitted to board the first class section of local trains, which are often far less crowded than regular carriages.

Public transport road

Bus: The BEST (tel: +91 2413 7937; www.bestundertaking.com) city bus connects the airport with central Mumbai and its suburbs. Bus 35 connects the airport with Dadar Station, from which a number of buses (61 and 70) run on to various destinations in the city centre. Local bus fares are very low, but travelling on this mode of transport can be crowded and, at times, chaotic, which can be difficult when travelling with luggage. Check the website for more details.

Coach: Intercity coach services can be booked in the arrival areas of Terminal 2.

Taxi: Pre-paid taxis, metered taxis and motor rickshaws are available at the airport. Rates to central Mumbai start at around INR170 with an air-conditioned vehicle and the journey time is upwards of 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Both terminals also have stands for app-based cab services Ola and Uber.
