Bordeaux Airport (also known as Mérignac Airport) is the main airport for the Gironde département of the Aquitaine region of southwest France. Featuring transport, accommodation and airport facility information, our Bordeaux Airport guide is a useful tool for those travelling through the airport.

The Billi terminal is currently undergoing expansion and modernisation works to improve its capacity and performance. The estimated completion date is 2021.

Transfer between terminals

The two main terminals (named Halls A and B) are situated in one complex. The low-cost Billi terminal is a short distance away, within walking distance.

Driving directions

From central Bordeaux, the simplest way to reach the airport is via the westbound Cours d’Ornano, which leads into Avenue de la Marne, Avenue John Fitzgerald Kennedy then Avenue René Cassin, before arriving at the airport. The total drive time from the city centre is roughly 25 minutes.

Bus: A local bus service (tel: +33 5 5757 8888; www.infotbc.com) connects the airport with the city centre via route Lianes 1+, which serves the Saint-Jean train station as well as numerous other city centre destinations (fare: €1.70).

Shuttle: Bordeaux Airport operates a direct 30-minute shuttle service (30direct.com) between Hall 2 of Bordeaux Airport and Saint-Jean train station, located in the city centre. The shuttle runs every day all year round. Service hours from Bordeaux Airport to the train station are 0830 – 2030 (weekdays), 0845 – 1800 (Saturdays) and 0930 – 1830 (Sundays). From Bordeaux train station, the service hours are 0700 – 1930 (weekdays), 0730 – 1700 (Saturdays) and 0830 – 1745 (Sundays). These are the hours for the winter season (27 Oct 2019 – 28 Mar 2020).
One-way tickets, that are purchasable on board the bus, cost €8. A discounted ticket of €7 is available for passengers below 26 years of age, passengers over 60 years of age, families with more than three children or the large family card and groups of more than six passengers. Taxi: Taxis, which are operated by a number of companies, are available from outside Hall A. Companies include: Taxis Mérignac (tel: +33 5 5697 1127), Taxis Girondins (tel: +33 5 5680 7037), Taxis 33 (tel: +33 5 5674 9506), Taxis Alliance (+33 5 5677 2424) and Taxis Télé (tel: +33 5 5696 0034). The fare to the city centre is generally around €30 during the day and €45 at night, but fares may vary depending on traffic.

Money

ATMs are available at various points throughout the airport. Bureaux de change kiosks are situated in the public area of Terminal A and in the boarding area of Billi terminal.

Communication

Two hours of free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Bordeaux Airport. There is a post box on the departures level of Hall B.

Food

Bordeaux Airport has a good selection of bars and restaurants in all terminals. These include a deli, popular coffee chain and a restaurant overlooking the runway in Hall A.

Shopping

Shops can be found in each terminal; these include newsagents, gift shops, confectioners and a perfumery. There are also duty-free shops in the international departures area of Hall A and in the Billi terminal.

Luggage

A lost property service is located on the departures level of Hall A (tel: +33 5 5634 5000). For items left on planes, passengers should contact their airline. Baggage trolleys and luggage wrapping services are available in the departure areas of Hall A and Hall B.

Other

There is a children’s playground in the arrivals area of Hall B.

Conference and business

Photocopying facilities are available in the departures area of Hall A. Bordeaux Airport has spaces suitable for seminars and conferences; there are three offices with a capacity of 6 to 12 people and one lounge with a capacity of 180 people standing (120 seated). Catering is available on request.
Extensive business and conference services are also available at the nearby Novotel Bordeaux Airport (tel: +33 5 5753 1330), located roughly 2km (1.2 miles) from Bordeaux Airport.

Disabled facilities

Wheelchairs may be available from individual airlines, though must be requested prior to travel. Lifts and disabled toilets are located throughout the airport, and there are spaces reserved for disabled drivers in all car parks. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking

Bordeaux Airport has four car parks: P0, P1, P2 and the long-term P4. The semi-covered P0 car park is nearest the terminal and offers short-term rates. P1 and P2 are short- and medium-term car parks. P4 is ideal for long stays with access to terminals via a free shuttle bus, departing every 20 minutes.

Visitors dropping off or collecting passengers should use the Express Parking zone which offers 10 minutes’ free parking. The Express Parking zone can be found in the car park opposite the terminals.

Car rental

Car hire companies include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Firefly, Goldcar, Hertz, InterRent and Sixt. Car rental desks are located in front of Hall A. The hire car parking area is located immediately opposite the terminals.
