Best time to visit

The sun-soaked Eilat enjoys a hot desert climate with extremely little rainfall – it only rains for a few days between December and March.

Spring (March to May) sees plenty of sunny days and is a good time to visit Eilat, particularly if you are a keen birder – the ringing station opens from March to mid-May at the Eilat Birding Center. The average high is 24°C (75°F) in March, though the temperatures rise rapidly and reach an average high of 34°C (93°F) in May.

Summer (June to August) is hot. The average high is 40°C (104°F) so apply plenty of sunscreen and keep yourself hydrated.

Autumn (September to November) is lovely as temperatures drop to a pleasant level of 33°C (91°F) in October. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, thousands of yoga enthusiasts congregate around Timna Park in early November for the Arava Yoga Festival.

Winter (December to February) is never cold in Eilat, making it a popular destination for visitors who want to escape the freezing climate across northern Europe. In December, the average high is 20°C (68°F) while the average low is 10°C (50F°).
