Currency restriction

Travellers entering or leaving Serbia are permitted to carry up to €10,000 (or the equivalent in other currencies, including the Serbian dinar) without the need for declaration.

If the amount exceeds €10,000, it must be declared upon arrival. This is important because only declared funds may be re-exported. When departing Serbia, travellers may take out a maximum of €10,000 (or the exact amount they declared upon entry) whether in foreign currency, local currency, or a combination of both.

Currency exchange

Currency exchange offices (called "menjačnica" in Serbian) are available throughout Serbia, especially in cities such as Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš. Euros are the most commonly exchanged currency, but US dollars, British pounds, and Swiss francs are also widely accepted for exchange. Scottish and Northern Irish Pound Sterling bank notes are not accepted.
