Flying to Buenos Aires

National carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas (www.aerolineas.com) operates routes between Buenos Aires and Lima, Madrid, Miami, New York, Barcelona, Rome and Bogotá, among others .British Airways offers direct flights to Buenos Aires from the UK. Indirect flights include Iberia and Air Europa (both via Madrid), Lufthansa (via Frankfurt), Air France (via Paris) and KLM (via Amsterdam). There are direct flights from the USA with US carrier American Airlines. The most expensive time to visit is during the southern hemisphere summer months of January and February, but cheap flights to Buenos Aires can generally be found the rest of the year.

Jorge Newbery airport is situated just 4km (2.5 miles) from Buenos Aires city centre, on the Costanera Norte beside the Rio de la Plata.


Facilities:

Tourist information, banking and bureau de change, left luggage and car hire facilities are all available. There are also frequent connections to the International Airport.


Public Transport:

Buses 33, 37 and 45 pick up along the Constanera (coast road) at the front of the airport and make various stops as they travel downtown. Manuel Tienda Léon (tel: +54 11 4314 3636; www.tiendaleon.com.ar) and Transfer Express (tel: +54 11 5811 1986) operate private car transfers and shuttle bus services to the city centre and the International Airport. Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport is situated at Ezeiza, 32km (19 miles) southwest of Buenos Aires.


Money:

There are several bureaux de change and ATMs in each terminal. A bank with 24-hour services operates in Terminal A.


Luggage:

The left-luggage service is located next to the information desk on the ground floor of Terminal A. Lockers are also available in Terminal A. Lost property is handled by the Airport Security Police (tel: +54 11 4480 9590). Luggage trolleys are available for a fee. Luggage wrapping is also available.
